Lyrebird in the woods

Well as Shakespeare would say many of the trees at Woolrich are 'bare ruined choirs' at the moment even if three non-singing king parrots landed on the hawthorn in the driveway today. Matt, our gardener and Geoff and Ben - gardeners from Cloudehill were working in the rhododendron 'forest' today - it seems hundreds or at least 20 - 30 blackwoods and hollies have sprung up there. There may be more. It is difficult to tell through the tangled thicket. Matt, Geoff and Ben worked steadily building a bonfire that can be burnt come August. I noticed on my way up to the top of the garden that the daffodils are starting to come through the ground and the conifers we planted are beginning to look respectable. I am starting this blog to give people a sense of what it is to own and seek to preserve the Woolrich property, developed originally by Ted Woolrich, one of the first nurserymen in the hills. One day we will investigate the bottom of the woods which is steep, full of beautiful things and needs pathways so that people can explore...like this blog. Who knows I may be able to post pictures soon! And I have managed it. Look at the beautiful lyrebird caught on camera a couple of months ago in the woods.
